Books Abroad, based in Rhynie by Huntly is celebrating 35 years of operation this year.
The charity, established in 1982, aspires to support education in developing countries worldwide by redistributing carefully chosen, second hand books.
Supported by a team of enthusiastic trustees and volunteers, the charity has grown considerably over the past 35 years and to date has sent over 3 million books abroad to more than 2300 educational establishments including schools, colleges and community centres. Establishing good relationships with individuals and organisations overseas over the years to provide long term support towards educating impoverished communities worldwide.
Efforts continue by Books Abroad to source funding, through trust fund applications and various fundraising initiatives, to support the ongoing requests received daily from organisations abroad which are keen to benefit from the generosity and kindness of the team.
Books Abroad Chairman Vinay Ruparelia commented, “Trustees and volunteers past and present should be immensely proud of their contributions to such a worthwhile charity organisation.
