Mission to Bhuj, India – January 2009 with Books Abroad and International Rescue Corps

Could you spare 2 weeks to make a difference?

Following the success of our SCHOLAR Challenge to Rajasthan in October 2007, Books Abroad and International Rescue Corps (www.intrescue.org.uk) are organising a joint fundraising mission to Bhuj, Gujarat, India the epicentre of the devastating earthquake in 2001.

Harry Potter raises £18,200 for Books Abroad

At midnight on Saturday 29th September, during the Books Abroad 25th Anniversary Ball at The Exchange, Thainstone, Inverurie the auction on ebay.co.uk of a complete set of signed Harry Potter books donated by J K Rowling ended with a winning bid of £18,200 - a fantastic result!

25th Anniversary Ball

To celebrate the first 25 years of Books Abroad a Ball is being held at The Exchange, Thainstone, Inverurie on Saturday 29th September. Tickets are priced at £45 pp and tables are available. ( 8 people )

Steve Robertson from Scotland The What has kindly volunteered his services for our after dinner speaker and the Woodlands Dance Orchestra will be providing the music during the evening. An auction will be held on the night and donations for this have been received from J K Rowling, Alexander McCall Smith, Louis de Bernier, Ian Rankin and Stuart McBride to name but a few.
