Welcome to the Books Abroad website and blog . As you have probably read already, we are a charity that sends books around the developing world and have been doing this since 1982 . Times have changed since then and Books Abroad has tried to move with them accordingly . In the 21st century technology is moving at an ever increasing rate and the medium of the internet is becoming more of a mainstay in our lives than few thought likely . So now Books Abroad is trying to keep pace and even be a leader in these changing times .

This blog has been created to keep anyone interested in Books Abroad up to date with what is happening at the charity . We intend to keep people informed about what shipments have been made , monies coming in , fundraising events, feedback from the schools, new projects, etc.

We are a green charity that takes books that would have been destined to go into landfill sites but go on to recycle them and distribute them to the developing world at a minimal cost .The books that are of no use to us are put through our industrial shredder, this is then used as horse bedding by our local riding centre first, before being composted .

So if you think that we are a charity that is a worthy cause why not become a member or make a donation ? It can all be done at the press of a button ......
