Thank you, P5 Westhill Primary School for your fundraising efforts

During November Raymond Edwards, Trustee, was asked to give a presentation to the P5/6 pupils of Westhill Primary School, Aberdeenshire which resulted in the P5 pupils deciding that they would like to run an enterprise project to raise money for Books Abroad.  With encouragement from their teacher Mrs McRobbie, the fundraising idea really captured the children’s interest and they came up with lots of ideas; sales of cake and juice at their Open Day, a donation collection in the school, cake and candy sales, bookmarks and sold items at a school football match. Their charity work was publicised on the Open Day invites which the whole school took part in.  The pupils’ hard work and enthusiasm raised an amazing £529 which was presented to Books Abroad at the school end of year party.  This was a fantastic effort and the pupils have requested that it goes towards an African based project.

A huge THANK YOU to P5, Westhill Primary School.

Jenna's online fundraising page for the London Marathon

The London Marathon is being run on 17 April 2011 to raise funds for Books Abroad by Jenna Smith from Huntly.  An online fundraising page has now been set up and can be found at http://bit.ly/gjRFnR.  Training is going well and she anticipates a longer run during the next couple of days of 20 miles.  Rather her than me - very proud of her supreme efforts.  Good luck, Jenna.
